Sønreel is an international electroacoustic collective creating alternate mnemonic realms by the corruption and reconstitution of sound. Sønreel's music combines elements of avant-garde experimental music, hip-hop, techno, jazz, and various ethnic influences into a bristling, imaginative sonic environment that amalgamates beats, twisted samples, and improvised instrumental material.

Sønreel's members are Liubo Borissov, Maja Cerar and Douglas Geers.  The three had worked with each other individually throughout the 1990s while at the Columbia Computer Music Center until fate brought them all together in an emergency-incited and completely improvised gig at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York City in late 2003.

The group recorded an album, Music for Fish, in late 2004, and performed at several international festivals in the years thereafter: New York, San Diego, Barcelona, etc., sometimes with guest musicians sitting in with core members.
